Hey guys and gals According to this interview. Mr Brock Lesnar says some of these young wrestlers need to “step up” and do something different to get over Do you agree with him? To be honest it’s easy for him to say . I think things could’ve been different if he’d debuted in this era rather than the post WCW acquisition eta when WWE was on fire. Nowadays Vince micromanages everything … so I totally don’t agree with his comments - I think it’s more creative direction / Vince that’s to blame , NOT the wrestlers themselves. They can only do what they can with what they are given Look at AEW - for the most part they know how to create stars What do you think? Respectfully, but i disagree with you mate. Brock is right. But as you know, I'll share my opinions based on examples.
Any WWE interview has a overlining thought. meet with Vince, pitch ideas, work around the idea's, etc. It's up to the wrestlers to make something of themselves. Very few can. Corbin can work with anything he's given, so does Sami Zayn or Seth Rollins. Really respected Keith Lee as well, in his interview he said he didn't like "the bearcat gimmick" but if the boss wants it, sure. I respect that work ethic.
You need to be able to stand out. That can be your work, or your looks. McIntyre, Lashley and Lesnar look like beasts. You can work with that. Pair them against someone who works a gimmick like a charm, like Zayn or Corbin and you got gold.
I love Ricochet, Drew Gulak and Cedric Alexander, 3 great workers. But what do they REALLY offer. In ring talent? Cool, you go and bump around for those we CAN market. Is that fair? perhaps not. But it's a business.
Apollo Crews and Becky Lynch both pointed out a thing Cena told them. You need to know who you are. You need something recognizable. Becky didn't get that until she became "the man", Apollo used the advice to come up with his heel turn. Different levels of success, but both worked well.
As for AEW, Tony hasn't build a single star, he's only provided the platform. The Elite pushed for Adam Page, other than that MJF got over because of his promo's Darby Allin, Britt Baker and Orange Cassidy got over with their characters other than that, every big name in AEW right now, where big before, and it's up to the wrestlers to get themselves over and step up. (they do get more freedom in AEW to make that happen)
All the new stars AEW have produces, is because of what the wrestlers did. Tony didn't make them, he only made the platform. But the MJF's of AEW are the prime example of stepping up
